Bluff

Concept, intermediate

Also called Semi-bluff.

Betting with a weak hand to make a stronger hand give up.

A bluff works when the story your bets tell is believable and the other player can fold. A semi-bluff is a bluff with outs: if it is called, the hand can still improve.

A player who never bluffs is easy to read; one who always bluffs is easy to call. The balance is the skill.

Try it yourself

On the last round you missed your draw and hold only high card. Your one opponent is careful, and folds often to a bet. Which reason could a bet have?
