Strategy

Bluff and model opponents

Understand how others see you, and how that shapes what they do.

Why it matters

People act on what they believe about you, not on what is true. Knowing your image, and theirs, explains their moves and lets you choose what to show, honestly and on purpose.

The question to ask

What do they think I have, and what will they do because of it?

At work

Before a hard conversation, ask how the other person sees your position and what they think you want; then speak to that.

In study

In an interview or an oral exam, think about what the examiner expects you to say, and show your reasoning, not only your answer.
