London System

Opening, beginner, Closed game (1.d4, not 1...Nf6)

Also called London.

White sets up the same solid structure against almost anything: d4, Bf4, e3, Nf3, c3.

Its appeal is economy: one set-up, learned once, against most replies. It is played at every level, from beginners to world champions. The usual move order is 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bf4; playing 2.Bf4 at once is called the Accelerated London.

1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bf4
