Tilt
Also called On tilt.
Playing worse because of frustration, often after a bad loss.
A big win can do the same: players often play looser after one, too (Smith, Levere and Kurtzman 2009). Tilt turns one result into many bad decisions. The cure is the same as in chess: notice it, pause, and go back to your routine before the next decision.
New to poker? Play your first hands, with a coach at every decision. Practice points only.
Try it yourself
You just lost a large pot when the last card gave your opponent a lucky flush. Next hand you hold the seven of clubs and the two of diamonds, and can call cheaply. What should you do?
2 questions, a minute or two. Nothing to finish first.
Play it out: the Gain or loss? lab, about five minutes against bots.
