Be unpredictable
Stop being predictable where someone can take advantage of it.
Why it matters
Patterns are useful until someone working against you reads them. A player who always does the same thing is easy to beat; mixing your choices, where an opponent is watching, keeps them guessing. Where people rely on you, being predictable is a strength.
The question to ask
Could someone watching me guess what I will do next, and would it cost me?
At work
Vary when and how you run spot checks, so that the process is followed every day, not just on the day everyone knows about.
In study
In a debate or a mock trial, vary how you open your case, so that a rival who has watched you before cannot prepare for it.
Lessons
Practise it in a game, about five minutes against bots: the Rock-paper-scissors lab.
Use it in a work case, a short story of linked decisions: The quiz night.
Practise and review
Questions from every lesson above, in mixed order. You do not need to finish a lesson first.
