Patterns save thinking
This lesson uses chess positions. Until you have played a little, its board questions are worked examples to read. New to chess? Play your first moves (five minutes), then learn it from the beginning.
Chess players get faster by learning patterns, not only by thinking harder. The same holds in any field you practise with quick, honest feedback, and patterns from one field rarely carry to another, so build them where you need them.
You were part-way through this lesson, at step 1 of 6.
